Renewed by His Spirit

Recently we have been looking at Titus 3:4-7. Let me give you those verses once again:

But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Christ Jesus our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

You’ll notice that salvation involves the renewing by the Holy Spirit. We have the ongoing, renewing work of the Spirit in our lives as believers. We are born again at a point in time but the renewing of the spirit, that transforming process is ongoing. Through the Spirit we have new longings and desires. Our life takes a totally different direction.
