Reward In Heaven

Jesus said, “Blessed are you when men cast insults at you, and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, on account of Me.” In other words, followers of Christ can expect some flack from a world that rejects Christ.

“Insults” refers to verbal attacks done to our face. It is the idea of being reviled.

“Persecution” refers to physical suffering that a believer might face. The word speaks of being chased, driven away or pursued.

“Saying all kinds of evil against you falsely” refers to slander spread behind your back. Being slandered behind your back can often be more painful than being insulted to your face.

Following Christ can be costly. It can cost you a friendship, a family relationship, your reputation, your job, even your life.

But while there may be a worldly persecution, there is a heavenly prize, a reward in heaven that is great. That makes it worth it.
